High mileage E46 buying advice. A few days ago I ran across a 2004 330Ci ZHP for sale locally. It's a 2 owner car that looks very well cared for. Downside is the 223,000 miles on the odometer. I was shown the Carfax and nearly all of the service was done at two local BMW dealerships. There are about 20 records that are mostly regular
The 335i twin turbo cars look like they are going cheap and tanking because of the cost of ownership. I found an E46 by accident, due to the age, it wasn't in my radar. Relatively speaking, I paid a fortune for my 2002 325i sport sedan with 89,000 ($7500). Single owner car by a BMW mechanic, pristine and at least $4000 in receipts for new parts.
Many people consider SL to be the last "good oil" before ZDDP levels were reduced. We recommend an SL oil for pretty much all cars built before the E90 generation: E85, E83, E63, E60, E53, E46, E39, E38, Z3, E36, E34, and E32. It can be used in E30 and older models too but only in thicker viscosity.
